A social media campaign pressuring the government to revisit its decision to close all ports to migrants is gaining momentum online and has the backing of prominent Maltese celebrities and the general public alike.

Make Your Voice Heard encourages people to follow ‘four simple steps’ which includes writing the hashtags #DontLetThemDrown and #AllLivesMatter on a piece of paper and taking the selfie.

In an effort to pressure the government into reversing this decision, the campaign is asking participants to upload their photo to social media and to tag Prime Minister Robert Abela and Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri.

Since its launch, the campaign has gained a significant amount of momentum, with celebrities, politicians, NGOs, priests and the general public coming together to show their support.
