Disgusted Swimmer Emerges From Swim In Marsaskala Covered In Sea Slime
A Maltese swimmer who was recently enjoying a swim in Marsaskala emerged from the water with his skin covered in a grey, oily and sticky material.
The man who reached out to Lovin Malta suspects that this was ‘sea slime’, probably originating from the island’s fish farms.
“I went swimming in Marsaskala, which was advertised to tourists as safe for swimming and clean waters earlier this week,” the man told Lovin Malta.
“And surprisingly and disappointedly I found that I had spots of grey sticky material attached to my skin and my hair.”
“This sticky material does not go away by rinsing but needs brushing with soap,” he explained.
“My friends and I, who were at the beach, were very disappointed about this, as this pollution is harming the environment and at the same time giving my country a bad name.”
“In fact tourists, just had to come out of the seawater and were asking the locals, about this pollution.”
The swimmer also said that the same occurrence was reported at Wied iż-Żurrieq over the last few days, but it seems not much action has been taken.
This has also recently been reported by Lovin Malta around various places in Malta over the last few days, including Pembroke and St George’s Bay in St Julian’s.
