Indian Worker Assaulted ‘By Three Men With Hammer’ In Early Morning Marsa Attack

An Indian national was allegedly beaten by three men using a hammer last night in Marsa.

The attack has made it to Indian news portals, who are reporting the man was beaten after the attackers approached him to ask to use his mobile phone, leading him to becoming allegedly injured on his head, both knees and hands.

Speaking to Lovin Malta, police confirmed that they are investigating the attack, which happened at around 4am in Triq Diċembru 13, Marsa. The police were unable to confirm what items were used in the attack at this early stage.

The man, Akhîl George, aged 30 from the Kerala region of India, is being described as “the only breadwinner of the family”. He is currently in Mater Dei hospital where his condition is pending. 

He was reportedly returning home from work when he was beaten.

The Indian community has come out strongly in condemnation after the assault, with some members of the community saying this is the third attack on a Malayali youth in two weeks in Malta.
