Police are investigating footage showing a man currently on trial for murder and attempted murder brandishing a weapon along the Sliema seafront.

Police confirmed with Lovin Malta that an investigation was opened after the footage was sent in. However, they did not comment further pending investigation.

However, sources detailed how the man is believed to be currently out on bail while facing charges of murder and attempted murder across two cases.

The man, who will remain unnamed pending investigation, was charged with beating a man to death in 2018, while he was also involved in attempted murder following a fight in which he brandished a weapon in 2016.

More recently, he was linked to a high-profile murder but was released without charge pending investigation.

The footage, which cannot be shared to protect the victim’s anonymity, shows the man standing along the Qui-Si-Sana seafront, brandishing what appears to be a knife and charging toward the man taking the video.

Sources who spoke to Lovin Malta were dismayed that the man has been allowed to continue walking free despite the pending cases and evidence that he has failed to leave his violent past behind.

While the man has been charged in both cases, he is yet to be found guilty in another shocking indictment of Malta’s abysmal court system which is plagued by countless delays.

In several high-profile cases, criminals out on bail have continued to commit other crimes, and in some cases, like this and the one involving Christian Pandolfino and Ivor Maciejowski, they can prove to be faithful.

The person who reached out to Lovin Malta is fearful of what else the man can do and while they have some faith in the police, they feel that nothing will be done.
