Investigators Tipped Off About Theuma’s Employment Documents Two Hours Before Head of Civil Service Informed Police

Investigators in the Daphne Caruana Galizia assassination were tipped off that Melvin Theuma’s no-work government contract existed a full two hours before the Head of Civil Service Mario Cutajar submitted the information to police, Lovin Malta can reveal.

Sources explained that investigators were informed at 2pm that Jobsplus held the information. They then proceeded to raid the offices and began their investigations. Cutajar passed on the information to police at around 4:30pm.

Theuma, who is the middleman in the murder that has been granted a presidential pardon in exchange for crucial evidence, earlier told the court that Keith Schembri and Sandro Craus had arranged a no-work government job for him just days after he agreed to arrange the murder.

“I still have no idea what my job was,” Theuma said.

However, immediately after Theuma’s testimony, Cutajar followed the Attorney General’s order to release a statement saying there was no record of Theuma’s government employment.

Cutajar’s claim was rubbished this evening when Xarabank published a document showing Theuma worked as a messenger/driver within the Housing Maintenance and Embellishment Company, a government-owned enterprise.

The earlier rushed statement now seems puzzling, with Cutajar now insisting that he made a mistake because he only checked the public service records and not the public sector records.

Questions why investigators waited until Theuma’s testimony in court to check employment records also remain a mystery, with his handwritten letter clearly stating that Keith Schembri had gotten him a government job.

The police discovered the letter when conducting a search of Yorgen Fenech’s home close to two weeks ago, but only waited till now to confirm it.

The company who employed Melvin Theuma, the Housing Maintenance and Embellishment Company,  is wholly owned by the government, with its Chairperson and board members all serving as directors.

It was registered on 28th December 2016, just six months before Theuma got his no-work job over there.
