Isabelle Bonnici Raises Concerns Over Construction Laws Introduced ‘Hush Hush’

Isabelle Bonnici has criticised the manner in which new construction rules were introduced during the festive period with no consultation.

The new rules remove the need for builders to  be employed on construction sites full-time and grant them a separate avenue to gain their license if they fail their exam.

Bonnici said that while she understands that some builders might be good at their job despite being illiterate, she is concerned at how the new rules were introduced during the festive period and expects the government to clarify the situation.

“We need to have full confidence that the people in charge are truly committed to ensuring we have a safer and cleaner construction sector,” she said. “We have too many memories and too much experience of bullies and cowboys in this sector, under all governments.”

“We have a right to know how this law will improve workplace health and safety as was promised by the government after the public inquiry into my dear son’s death.”
