‘It Felt Like A Horror Movie’: Gozo Resident Trapped In Garage During Power Cut

Unplanned power cuts are always a pain but last night was an especially uncomfortable experience for Richu John.
Richu was returning to his apartment in Rabat (Gozo) and decided to enter through the adjacent garage. However, the power went out as he was inside, and as the garage has automatic doors, Rishu was trapped inside.
“It almost felt like a horror movie,” Richu told Lovin Malta. “It was dark inside and I’m lucky I’m not that claustrophobic. Thankfully, my phone was charged so I could use a flash light.”
As his friends were at work and no one else was at his apartment, Richu had no choice but to knock on the garage doors and hope someone hears him.
After around 20 minutes, someone opened the door for him from the outside and his ordeal was over.
Several areas in Gozo were hit with blackouts yesterday after a cable providing electricity to the island caught fire. The Civil Protection Department was called to the site to control the fire, during which Enemalta had to switch off all the cables providing electricity to Gozo as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the workers.
