‘It Gave Me Chills’: Cyrus Engerer Raises Concern On Public Privacy Amidst Complaints Of Drones Hovering Above Residences

This weekend saw two posts on social media questioning the legality of drones flying within the limits of residences around Malta.

The first was from a member of the popular Facebook forum Salott who was enjoying a Saturday BBQ with friends on the terrace of their penthouse and the other from Labour MEP Candidate Cyrus Engerer.

The post does mention that “had it just passed by”, they would have ignored the drone, but describes the experience for everyone involved as “frankly, quite creepy”.

Cyrus Engerer then took to Facebook to share his own encounter with a drone that same day

Engerer went on to lament in the comments of the times he had been photographed for personal blogs and exposés online, citing his efforts to improve the public privacy of the country as a reason behind his fear.

He also notes that the drone was within reaching distance and when he had raised his hands to grab it, the drone lifted out of reach and further above his roof which is presumably when he then took the attached photo.

What do you make of this case? Have you seen drones flying around residential areas lately?
