Ricky Caruana said that he managed to become a household name while barely spending a cent and that the secret of his success lies in his “authenticity and charisma”.

Ahead of his new Friday night debate show on TVM, which will take the primetime slot previously occupied by Ron Briffa’s Xow, Ricky said there is no bad blood between him and Ron and addressed his critics.

“As to the rest of the people commenting, I have nothing more to say other than to ask why I am to blame if I was born a philosopher and only needed a jacket to become a hit nationwide. Just because I’m good at what I do and because I’m both simple and capable, has it now become a sin and something wrong?”

“Some people spent loads of money on studios, sponsors, glitz, loans, bombast and pomp and didn’t succeed. I just needed a €120 mobile, my belly out and a pig. Leave jealousy aside because it will drive you mad.”

“It’s not my fault either if my charisma, in a simple and natural way, attracts thousands of people. Some people love me and others hate me.”

“I have only love in my heart for everyone, including the nasty and rude people whose core is corrupted with evil, envy and jealousy. Saying this. I wish everyone good luck.”

“Everyone started from zero and one day I will end up like everyone else, but I will remain in your hearts and minds because of my authenticity. That’s what separates real artists from wannabes. And that gift isn’t a privilege but a responsibility towards others.”
