Jason Azzopardi Says LESA Ordered Not To Fine Maltese Residents In May

Lawyer and former PN MP Jason Azzopardi has said LESA officers have been ordered not to fine a single Maltese resident during May in the run-up to the elections.
“Three separate LESA officers have spoken to me and they have been given orders not to fine Maltese residents in May,” Azzopardi wrote.
“Being reasonable is good. However, being morally corrupt and not doing your duty simply because of an election, only to vomit out your greed after June by dishing fines for every small thing is unacceptable. It is also a form of corruption.”
Lovin Malta has asked LESA whether these alleged orders are true. However, it is a common perception that wardens tend to be more lenient in the run-up to elections, as part of a government strategy to keep people as happy as possible in this crucial period.
