Jason Azzopardi: ‘This Is The Beginning Of The End For PL As We Know It’

Former Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi has predicted that yesterday’s political survey, released in light of the Vitlas-Steward scandal, signals the “beginning of the end for PL as we know it”.

“The survey result is extremely important on a number of levels,” Azzopardi said. “Ironically, I was a prime mover behind the court case that was opened against VGH, and Adrian Delia’s deserved victory has shaken the PL’s electoral foundations.”

“A week ago, I was invited on Net TV and started my intervention by stating that this is the beginning of the end for PL as we know it today.”

“A court sentence has managed to bring about this electoral earthquake but you haven’t seen anything yet. Speak to me in a few weeks’ time when public anger would have risen to new highs.”

A MaltaToday survey found that the Labour Party lost eight percentage points over the past month while the PN gained six, placing the polls at 30.8% for PL and 28.4% for PN.

Prime Minister Robert Abela crashed in popularity, losing 11 points to clock in at 34.3%, his worst score in a MaltaToday survey yet, while Opposition Leader Bernard Grech gained six points to reach 26.1%.

This was the first survey carried out after Delia’s landmark court victory against the Vitals-Steward hospital contract.

Do you think the PL can recover from this blow?
