JeanPaul Sofia, the 20-year-old Maltese national who lost his life in the Kordin construction site tragedy, will be laid to rest tomorrow.

The funeral is set to be held at the San Ġorġ Preca church in Swatar, at 9am.

While announcing the funeral, family members of Sofia said they wish attendees refrained from wearing black.

Sofia tragically lost his life after a building within a construction site collapsed in Kordin, leaving six workers buried in the rubble.

The young man’s body was found following an extensive 15-hour operation through the rubble and debris, with emergency workers undertaking a delicate mission in a race against time.

The other five workers were identified as three Albanian men, one Maltese, and another man from Bosnia, Police said.

Three of the workers were certified to be suffering from life-threatening injuries, one with grievous injuries, and another with light injuries.

An inquiry is being led by Magistrate Marseann Farrugia.

Rest in Peace
