JeanPaul Sofia Photo And Candles Swept Away From Castille Doorstep Very Soon After Mother’s Protest
A small tribute to JeanPaul Sofia that his mother placed outside Castille yesterday evening was removed shortly after it was erected.
JeanPaul Sofia’s mother Isabelle Bonnici reacted in disappointment to the development but pledged not to lose heart in her quest for a public inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her son’s death at a Kordin construction site last December.
“From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank all those who showed support and those who were going to place a candle,” she said.
“However everything was removed in the middle of the night. This won’t make lose heart when getting my message across.”
“I will keep on insisting on a public inquiry until my last breath to ease the pain of those families whose relatives lose their lives at work. I don’t want my son to have died for nothing.”
Bonnici said that while the light of the candles may have snuffed out, she will keep “lighting the flame” of hope and justice.
“Life is too precious for its end to be considered so irrelevant. I urge the people to unite in one colour, the colour of love.”
PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia said the tribute “bothered” the government, while ADPD deputy leader Sandra Gauci went a step further and warned that “this is how the Mafia operates”.
Do you think the memorial should have been swept away?
