Jobsplus, Identità And Police Seen Cracking Down On People Living And Working In Malta Irregularly
Officials from Jobsplus, Identità, Transport Malta and the Malta Police Force were seen stopping vehicles and detaining people working and living irregularly this morning.
Over a dozen officials were seen in San Gwann as part of an ongoing joint effort seeking to enforce migration laws. Sources on the scene told Lovin Malta that officials were checking for ID cards and work permits, apprehending those who did not have valid ones with zip ties and putting them into one of two detention vans.
By around 8.45am, the newsroom saw approximately ten people detained.
Just last week, 45 people were arrested in similar coordinated traffic checks in Raħal Ġdid and Burmarrad.
Those found living in the country irregularly have been placed in detention centres, where they will remain until they are repatriated to their country of origin or a country where they can legally reside.
