Jon Mallia Asked People If They Feel Malta Is Progressing And The Result Was Staggering
A simple and open-ended Facebook poll posted by podcaster Jon Mallia about the state of Malta looked like it was going to divide people but ended up with a worryingly resounding majority.
“Do you feel like your country is moving forward?” Mallia asked, giving his followers two reacts as prompts for replies.
As of the time of writing, the question has generated only 14 ‘Yes’ responses, and 2,300 ‘No’ responses… that’s a percentage of over 99% of responses who don’t feel that Malta is progressing.
While the Facebook poll isn’t a scientific survey and may, to some degree, reflect the specific sentiment of Mallia’s followers rather than the spirit of the nation, the sheer one-sided response to a public poll with thousands of responses should certainly act as an eye-opener.
Responses given by the public for why they feel Malta is regressing included expensive property prices, low wages, overpopulation, environmental degradation, corruption, cronyism, loss of national heritage, littering and violence.

“My content is obviously perceived as controversial at times, which is super weird because all I’m doing is telling the truth,” Mallia told Lovin Malta. “Point is that what I usually write about gets a pretty polarised response. Not this time though.”
“99% of the 2,300 people participating in the poll are either pissed off or saddened,” he continued. “Which tallies up with the recent survey that placed the Maltese as the angriest in all of the EU.”
“Most participants are angry at the over-construction, the total disregard for the environment,” he finished, noting the scores or comments under the poll itself. “They’re annoyed at how our society has developed to prize money above all else. Our children’s future included.”
What do you make of this? Do you agree with the consensus under Jon’s latest question?
