Joseph Muscat Election Decision Is Up To The Party, Michelle Muscat Says
Michelle Muscat has said the decision on whether her husband Joseph Muscat will contest the European Parliament election is “up to the Labour Party”.
Muscat this morning addressed a coffee morning activity organised by PL MEP candidate Claudette Abela Baldacchino, an old schoolfriend of hers who had also got to know Joseph Muscat from their time working together at ONE TV.
Unsurprisingly, people present at the event asked her for some information about her husband, who has said he is considering contesting the MEP elections.
“Joseph and I continued loving the party and we will always be there for the party if it calls us,” she said. “You are asking me what Joseph is going to do.”
“As always, Joseph has worked in the best interests of the party and the country, and this is a decision that the party and the leadership must take.”
This comment interpreted by many, including PL activist Emanuel Cuschieri, as meaning that the former Prime Minister has made his mind up and intends to contest the election.
Prime Minister Robert Abela has already publicly said he has no reason to reject Muscat if he decides to contest the election.
