Judge Clears Former Police Officer Of Raping Colleague At Msida Police Station, Rules Sex Was Consensual

Judge Consuelo Scerri Herrera has cleared a former police officer of raping a female colleague at the Msida police station.

After listening to witnesses, Scerri Herrera compared the Msida police station to a “brothel” but dismissed the policewoman’s claims of rape.

Noting that there were no eyewitnesses to corroborate her claims, the judge said she believes it was more likely that the sex was consensual.

To back up her statement, Scerri Herrera pointed out that the alleged victim hadn’t avoided her alleged aggressor, and had indeed changed her shift to work at the Msida station and sat in front of him during a sushi meal.

The accused former officer was also charged with sexually harassing a 19-year-old recruit inside a police car. He was found guilty of this charge and was sentenced to one year imprisonment, suspended for two years.
