Kay Abad Identified As Woman Who Drowned In Sliema As Sorrowful Sister Speaks Out
Kay Abad has been identified as the Filipino woman who tragically drowned in Sliema last weekend after being pulled into the sea by the savage waves.
Her identification comes after her sister, Jika, uploaded a post on Facebook to announce the passing of her sister and thank all those involved for their help.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my sister Kay on May 20th, after a tragic incident that happened to her and her cabin crew colleagues while sightseeing around the beach of Sliema Sea in Malta,” Jika said.
“Our family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all those who expressed their concerns and sympathies during this time of profound sorrow.”
“Our deepest thanks to Malta’s armed forces, CPD, medical respondents, Mater Dei Hospital, and my sister’s colleagues for their immediate medical aid and immense courage during the search and retrieval operations.”
She continued by thanking the Philippine Consulate, the Finnish Government, Malta’s members of the police force, and her sister’s company Smartlynx, who are actively coordinating with them and providing us all the support they need in order to repatriate her sister’s body back to Finland.
“Please join our family to continuously pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Kay and the loved ones she has left behind.”
Kay died after she fell into the sea last Saturday, prompting a search and rescue mission. A total of four people fell into the sea, with the other three women being rescued and hospitalised.
She was pulled out of the water alive but sadly passed away after she was transported to Mater Dei Hospital by emergency respondents.
