Keith Cremona was arrested this morning after fleeing the police and injuring a civilian officer in the process.
The 34-year-old man is a Valletta resident who was wanted by the police in connection with criminal investigations, according to TVM.
At around 7:15am, officers from the Major Crimes Unit spotted Cremona driving a Hyundai Lantra in Qormi. When Cremona caught sight of the police, he sped away from them, driving dangerously towards Marsa.
He posed a serious threat to other people and even ran over an officer who wasn’t on duty but happened to be motorcycling in the area of Triq tat-Ttomba in Marsa.
In order to stop Cremona, some warning shots were fired by the police but this still didn’t phase him. Eventually, as the suspect arrived at Sir Boffa Avenue, police officers fired at the wheel of his car, successfully stopping and arresting him.
The officer is now in hospital receiving treatment for injuries sustained through the hit-and-run.
