Koħħu’s Father-In-Law Says Suspected Bomb Suppliers Offered €1,500 A Month In Hush Money

Peter Brincat, the father-in-law of Vince Muscat (known as Il-Koħħu), said that alleged bomb suppliers Robert Agius and Jamie Vella offered Koħħu €1,500 a month to stop mentioning him to police.

As reported by Times of Malta from court, Brincat testified during the ongoing trial by jury against the men charged with killing lawyer Carmel Chircop and supplying the bomb that killed Daphne Caurana Galziia.

He said that Vella had approached him in Rob’s Bar, Marsa, in 2019 and told him he wanted to speak to him about his son-in-law.

Brincat said that they went outside to stop other bar patrons from listening in, and Vella told him that Musat was speaking to

He told the court that Vella approached him in Rob’s Bar cafe in Marsa at some time around 2019 and told him: “I want to speak to you about Ċensu [Vincent Muscat].” The witness asked him to go outside, since there were some other patrons in the bar.

Vella allegedly told Brincat that he found out Muscat was speaking to Inspector Keith Arnaud, and said that he and Agius were willing to offer €750 each monthly (€1,500 in total) as hush money if he doesn’t name them.

Brincat said that Vella was accompanied by another man but he didn’t recognise him.

He said Vella told him to inform his daughter of the offer,

Vella allegedly asked him to inform Muscat when he next visited him in prison. Brincat said Vella was accompanied by someone who was waiting outside for him but he could not recognise him, explaining that he has eyesight problems.

The witness said Vella told him to inform Muscat’s daughter, and Brincat did so out of fear that they would find her themselves otherwise. However, she flat out rejected the offer.
