Labour Calls Out Retired Auditor For Referring To Young MP As A ‘Whore On Heat’
Retired auditor Godfrey Leone Ganado has landed himself in hot water with the Labour Party after he repeatedly referred to MP Rosianne Cutajar as a “whore on heat” (qaħba f’xalata).
Cutajar yesterday uploaded screenshots of derogatory Facebook comments, including several by Leone Ganado, a former senior partner of PWC. Leone Ganado described the MP as a “whore on heat” and referred to blogposts by the late Daphne Caruana Galizia which strongly suggested Cutajar used to pose as a Sicilian escort.
“This is Caruana Galizia’s legacy, personified by the likes of Godfrey Leone Ganado and his friends,” Cutajar said.
The PL’s women’s branch, Nisa Labursiti, condemned Leone Ganado’s comments as “unacceptable in this day and age”.
“We can disagree with each each other, but we shouldn’t stoop so low in this day and age, particularly so soon before Gender Violence Awareness Week,” Nisa Laburisti president Nikita Zammit Alamango said.
She also accused “certain people and organisations” of hypocrisy, questioning why they condemned similar insults but remained silent here, a clear reference to when government consultant Tony Zarb described Occupy Justice activists as prostitutes.
Cutajar also drew some support from the other side of the political divide, with Nationalist MP David Stellini tweeting that misogynistic comments have no place in politics and his colleague Hermann Schiavone calling for reciprocal respect.
