Labour CEO Randolph De Battista has condemned the way some people are trying to pin the blame for Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination on her son Matthew.

“It’s shocking that some people can even think, and are still sharing posts, that implicate Matthew in his mother’s murder,” De Battista said. “The Labour Party never said this and always stressed that institutions should be allowed to do their job to ensure that the people behind this assassination are caught and brought to justice. I condemn these posts and urge everyone to stop sharing them.”

Conspiracy theories blaming Matthew Caruana Galizia for his mother’s murder have been doing the rounds for several months, largely because he had parked outside the house on the night of the murder.

Yesterday, he publicly urged De Battista to condemn memes that had started circulating

“Yorgen Fenech arraigned. Labour Party still accusing me of murdering my mother. Is this necessary, Randolph De Battista? What are you leading? A political party or the Maltese ISIS?”
