Labour MP Uses Celine Dion Song To Rally Troops Behind Prime Minister

Labour MP Edward Zammit Lewis has re-affirmed his loyalty to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, by quoting lyrics from “Because You Loved Me” – a Celine Dion love song.

“Hello, my friends. Joseph Muscat is our leader and the Labour parliamentary group are united and will remain united behind him,” Zammit Lewis said. “What a difference from others. The people deserve the best and, as it stands, it’s only Labour which can offer the best.”

Underneath the post, Zammit Lewis superimposed the Celine Dion lyrics over a Maltese flag and a picture of a smiling Joseph Muscat, his arms outstretched.

Zammit Lewis was Malta’s tourism minister during the last legislature but missed out on a return to Cabinet after he failed to get elected in last June’s snap general election. However, he returned to Parliament as a Labour backbencher by virtue of a casual election, after which his legal firm was engaged as legal consultant to Identity Malta.

Joseph Muscat is currently facing pressure to sack the police commissioner and Attorney General in the wake of the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
