In the midst of these tumultuous times for Malta and the world, a tenant has shared some good news his landlord relayed to him this morning.

Writing in a popular Facebook group for expats, the tenant revealed that his landlord had decided to temporarily reduce his rent from €750 to €400 a month to help him cope with any economic fallout from the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

“Good morning, given the current situation I will temporarily decrease your rent to €400 a month starting form this month,” the landlord wrote. “Obviously I cannot give you any discount on electricity and water. Hope this temporary measure can help you. In the meantime I would appreciate if you could keep the place and common area clean. Thanks.”

The tenant praised the landlord for his decision.

“Big respect, big thanks, God bless you,” he wrote. “I hope he is not the only one… have a nice day to all and take care.”
