Large March Held In Valletta To Celebrate Malta’s ‘Pro-Life Society’

A large crowd gathered in Valletta this afternoon for the annual ‘March for Life’ demonstration against abortion.

Just as like last year, people placed a huge poster of a newborn baby on the steps leading up to the Prime Minister’s office in Castille.

However, unlike last year’s event, which was a massive protest against a bill that they warned could legalise abortion by stealth, this year’s march was more celebratory after the government U-turned on its plans.

The march ended in Jean De Valette Square, where people listened to a young pregnant woman called Martha speak about the privilege of maternity and a medical student called Michaela speak about the responsibility she felt for promoting the right to life and being a voice for the unborn.

Pro-life doctor Daniella Zerafa focused on the importance of a society welcoming all new life and ensuring optimal care and support for women and their babies, while American author Patricia Sandoval spoke about her shift from pro-choice to pro-life after realising that “unborn babies are human beings and not simply a choice”.

The march was organised by Life Network Foundation, whose chairperson Miriam Sciberras praised Malta’s MPs for voting unanimously in favour of the new bill and the people of Malta for “proudly standing up to life”.
