Less Than One Minute Separates First Arrivals In Malta’s Rolex Middle Sea Race

Less than one minute separated the first and second places in the line honours of the Rolex Middle Sea Race.

Riccardo Pavoncelli’s MOD70 Mana (ITA) was first to cross the finish line at roughly 12.32am – completing the race in 61 hours 32 minutes 38 seconds.

However, it was an electrifying finish, with Zoulou (FRA), skippered by Erik Maris, coming in less than a minute after Mana.

Giovanni Soldini’s Maserati Multi 70 (ITA) finished third, ten minutes after. All three vessels are multihulls.

Arriving first does not necessarily mean that Mana will be crowned overall winner of the race, which uses a corrected time mechanism according to various categories of the boats that compete in the prestigious race.

More vessels will be coming in over the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled on who the winner could be with many Maltese taking part in the iconic competition.
