Lidl Malta To Sell ‘Slightly Imperfect’ Fruit And Vegetables At Reduced Prices

Article Featured Image

Lidl Malta has announced it will start selling “slightly imperfect” fruit and vegetables at reduced prices.

Through this scheme, Lidl will fill ‘food saving bags’ with fruit and vegetables that would have otherwise been thrown away for aesthetic reasons.

Each bag weighs 4kg and can be purchased at a discounted price of €3.

Moreover, Lidl has pledged to donate 50c from every food saving bag purchased to Caritas Malta, which provides food and other essential services to people in need.

Similar schemes have already been introduced in countries like the UK and Italy, and as food prices in Malta continue to shoot up, this could be welcome news for consumers.
