Listen: Official EuroPride Anthem – ‘We Got Pride’ – Featuring Talented Roster Of Maltese Singers Out Now

Just a month away from the opening of EuroPride Valletta 2023, the official anthem for this historic event has been released – ‘We Got Pride’.
“The original song portrays the positive journey Malta has undertaken in recent years to combat discrimination and strengthen equality, with the aim that no one feels excluded in their own country due to personal choices about the family they wish to build,” the Equality Ministry said, announcing the new track.

‘We Got Pride’ emphasises that love can never be wrong. The album celebrates the transformation towards a society that recognises diversity and, as a nation, we proudly demonstrate that we can coexist, just as we are, without prejudice, bias, or silence.
This official version of the EuroPride anthem features the voices of six prominent local singers – Glen Vella, Amber, Matt Black, Brooke, Ryan Hili, and Destiny.
Composer Matt ‘Muxu’ Mercieca said its lyrics serve as a reminder of where we stood as a country in the field of civil rights and how far we have come together. It is not only a celebration for the LGBTQ+ community, but for everyone who loves.
“The album serves as a reminder of where we stood as a country in the field of civil rights and how far we have come together. This is a positive sentiment for the end,” said Mercieca.
The composer of the song, Elton Zarb, stated that the music reflects how the Maltese and Gozitan people will come together to celebrate in September.
“It is prestigious for me to have worked on this high-energy song that we want to transmit to the people, to sing and dance with it while celebrating the equality we believe in,” said Zarb.
Equality Parliamentary Secretary Rebecca Buttigieg marked the release of the official EuroPride song as another step towards the realisation of the work being done for our country to shine brightly.
“Preparations are at their peak. In just 30 days, we will kick off this historic event that will not only celebrate our achievements in equality but will also strengthen the ties with the full enjoyment of civil rights for us and all of Europe.”
President of Allied Rainbow Communities Maria Azzopardi mentioned that one of the main goals of EuroPride Valletta 2023 is to bring together our vast and vibrant community to show the world how proud we are of ourselves and our loved ones.
“We cannot be more excited about the release of this song, which gathers various local artists together, as a showcase of our country’s love.”
