Listen: The Voice Message That Landed Floriana Councillor Justin Haber A Restraining Order

PL Floriana councillor and former Malta goalie Justin Haber has been handed a restraining order after a court found him guilty of threatening to behead his sister.
Earlier this year, Haber sent his sister Pearl Vella Haber the following voice note after she had cut off all contact with her family for personal reasons.
He told her that their mother, who was diagnosed with cancer, was suffering and that if something happens to her “I will cut your head off”.
“I am being serious, you can go to the police or whoever you want,” he said.
A few months later, Haber published a video to social media from hospital, where he addressed his sister directly, called for her employer to take action against her, and pointed the camera to their mother in bed.
Magistrate Nadia Helena Vella today found Haber guilty of threatening his sister and imposed a one-year restraining order in her favour, with the risk of a €2,000 fine if he breaches it.
During the sitting, Vella Haber recounted how she had reported her brother on a separate case back in 2014 but decided to drop the case out of respect for her family. However, she said she decided to pursue the case this time because she was so afraid of her brother that she never parks in underground car parks out of fear that he could confront her there.
Vella Haber was represented in court by lawyer Marita Pace Dimech, while Haber was represented by Edward Zammit Lewis.
