‘Listen Well And Pay Attention:’ Evarist Bartolo Gives Advice On How To Take Criticism
In a week where the government has faced heavy criticism, both from abroad as well as domestically, the Education Minister has shared his thoughts on how to approach critics in a morning Facebook post.
“Good day,” Evarist Bartolo started early this morning.
“I tell myself: If you want to lead better, you’ll learn with time (though it isn’t easy) that when someone approaches you to complain or to criticise something that you are responsible for, listen well and pay attention.”
“Because if there’s a fire burning in some building, you shouldn’t be shutting off the fire alarm, but putting out the fire,” he said.
Bartolo’s comment comes after he publicly called for the resignation of Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi and Chief of Staff Keith Schembri yesterday.
His comments come a day after a Labour parliamentary group gave a unanimous vote of confidence in Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
Malta is still coming to grips a week after the bombshell revelation that businessman Yorgen Fenech may be involved in the planned murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. In that time, the government has come under criticism for alleged ties between certain key officials and Fenech, as well as been the target for at least three street demonstrations.
