‘Listening To That Part Of The Interview Was So Embarrassing’ – Peppi Azzopardi Reacts To Sainthood Proposal
Peppi Azzopardi finally reacted to University lecturer and radio host Andrew Azzopardi’s proposal that he be anointed a saint after his death.
The comment was made on Saturday 7th September on RTK by Azzopardi himself while interviewing journalist Mark Laurence Zammit, an ex-colleague of Peppi Azzopardi’s.
“I’ll go where I need to go, write a letter and say he should be beatified and then made a saint or whatever the process is,” claimed Azzopardi on his radio show.
Many speculated what Peppi’s Azzopardi’s response would be to this sudden beatification proposal, with many tagging and messaging him for a reaction. Lovin Malta was among those many.
“Listening to that part of the interview was so embarrassing to me that I wished I was the only person tuned in to the radio show that morning,” he said.
The radio segment seemed to have a bittersweet effect on Peppi, understandably putting him in an awkward position. However, he took it with stride and modestly continued to say:
“If I’m good enough for heaven, then everyone else is too, and we’re all going to meet there, and that’s great news to me.”
The journalist seemed to have no hard feelings about the comment, but he neither accepted nor refused Andrew Azzopardi’s proposal.
What do you make of Peppi’s response?
