Today’s constitutional case involving Yorgen Fenech’s attempts to remove lead investigator Keith Arnaud from the investigation was abruptly cut short, with only one person taking the stand.

The only witness today, who will remain unnamed on order of the court, was a Jobsplus representative, who presented documentation to the courts. The documents are believed to be linked to Fenech’s claims that the former Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Keith Schembri acquired a job for Arnaud’s wife at Infrastructure Malta.

Fenech’s legal team told the court that they had no more witnesses to testify, with Judge Lawrence Mintoff issuing a stern warning against attempts to unnecessarily prolong the case.

Judge Mintoff gave Fenech’s lawyers one day to provide the court with their full list of witnesses.

The case could not continue on today after Lawyers Victoria Buttigieg and Maurizio Cordina, who are representing the Attorney General, explained that they did not have any witnesses prepared for today’s sitting given they suspected more witnesses from Fenech’s team.

The case continues on 17th December at 9:30 am.

Last week’s sitting saw Fenech deliver a shocking testimony where he detailed his fraternal relationship with the Prime Minister’s former Chief of Staff Keith Schembri, who he claimed kept him informed continuously about the progress of the investigation.

These included details like Fenech’s phone being tapped, Melvin Theuma’s pardon, and the imminent arrests of the men who carried out the murder.

Fenech claims that most of this information was fed to Schembri by Arnaud.
