Social media influencer Terry ta’ Bormla aka Zija TT is now legally recognised as a woman.

Sharing a photo of her new ID Card emblazoned with ‘F’ in reference to her updated sex, Terry couldn’t help but share the good news.

“From here on out, I can definitely say that I’m a woman,” she said. “Big thank you to notary Polidano.”

Terry, a popular social media entertainer in some Maltese circles, often takes to Facebook Live to share hilarious anecdotes or raise awareness on key issues and current affairs across the island.

She’s opened up publicly about a series of dramatic events, from being assaulted in her own home to switching political allegiances.

More than anything, she’s beloved for her personal brand of realness and keeping it super Maltese.

Now, with her sex change officially legal, Terry can go on to live her life just as she wants to – and in the comments section under her announcement, people were quick to congratulate her on the big step.

Maltese citizens can choose to change their gender to reflect their chosen gender relatively easily; one needs to find a Maltese notary who would file the declaration, before the Public Registry receives a request to change the gender of the person in question.
