Maltese Activists Awarded By The Queen Herself

While the rest of us were enjoying the day off last Thursday, two of our finest were being praised by The Queen herself.

Eman Borg, 22, and Vladyslava Kravchenko, 25, received the Queens Young Leader Award at Buckingham Palace: Borg, from Gozo, for his work supporting the LGBTIQ+ community, and Kravchenko, from Qawra, for her commitment to raising awareness of disability sports.

The Queen’s Young Leader Award program encourages young people from all over the Commonwealth to be driving positive forces in their communities. It encourages open communication, leadership, and a willingness to work hard to improve the lives of those around you.

The recipients of the award every year are flown to England for personalised mentoring, workshops in leadership skills and community outreach at the University of Cambridge. It culminates with an award ceremony headed by Queen Elizabeth II.

If you’re interested in taking part, submissions for the 2018 award are now open and this is the last year anyone can take part, so get to it!
