14-Year-Old Stable After Alleged Stabbing At St Clare’s College

A 14 year old student was taken to Mater Dei Hospital this morning after an argument between two boys at St Clare’s College Secondary School in Pembroke escalated into an alleged stabbing.

Police confirmed the incident happened at around 7.45am in the school yard, where an argument broke out between the two students, both 14 years old. A sharp weapon, believed to be a knife, was allegedly used and has since been apprehended.

The victim is currently in a stable condition at Mater Dei Hospital.

School officials intervened immediately and stopped the aggressor before handing him over to the authorities and is being interrogated with his parents and social workers present.

Police said both boys are Libyan nationals who have been living in Malta since they were three years old.

The Education Ministry issued a statement confirming that it had been informed of the case, noting that the Victim Support Agency has been tasked with providing assistance to students and educators who witnessed the incident. The school administration is fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.

A magisterial inquiry, led by Magistrate Philip Farrugia, has been opened. Police investigations continue as authorities work to establish what led to the argument.
