Sixteen-year-old Thomas Mifsud achieved an incredible feat yesterday, completing nine hours of swimming alongside Neil Agius during the Community Swim at the National Pool Complex in Tal-Qroqq.

This event was part of Neil’s training for his upcoming world record attempt later this month.

Thomas, who was taught to swim by Neil, who also used to be his LSA, is a wheelchair user due to spina bifida—a condition where the spine and spinal cord don’t develop properly—and osteogenesis imperfecta, a disorder that causes bones to break easily.

This swim marked Thomas’s longest swim to date, surpassing his previous record of six hours and seven minutes.

Remarkably, this isn’t the first time Thomas has joined Neil in such a challenge; he also participated in a 12-hour swim in aid of Inspire back in April.

Well done Thomas and everyone who joined Neil on this swim!
