Graduation season is officially here! Almost 2,000 students are set to graduate from the University of Malta over the coming days, and once again, the majority are women.

According to the University, a total of 1,718 students will be celebrating their achievements this November. Out of these, 1,057 (61.5%) are women, 657 (38.2%) are men, and four (0.2%) identify as X.

This continues a long-running trend, with women making up around 60% of UoM graduates in recent years.

While this year’s graduating class is slightly smaller than last year’s 1,875 graduates, it’s still a proud moment for hundreds of students, and their families, across Malta.

The first of 10 graduation ceremonies kicked off with graduates from the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Centre for Labour Studies.

The Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy tops the list this year, with 251 graduates, followed by the Faculty for Social Wellbeing (239), the Faculty of Arts (193), the Faculty of Health Sciences (186), and the Faculty of Laws (169).

All ceremonies will be live-streamed on the University of Malta’s Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube pages, so even those who can’t make it in person can still join in the celebrations.

UM Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, congratulated all graduates, encouraging many to continue their academic journey through postgraduate studies.

Congratulations to all this year’s graduates!
