21,931 Valid Firearms Licenses Registered In Malta As Of December 2024
As of December 2024, 21,931 individuals were in possession of a valid firearms licence across Malta and Gozo.
This information came to light after Minister of Home Affairs and Security, Byron Camilleri, answered parliamentary questions of how many citizens hold a valid license tabled by PN MP Paula Mifsud Bonnici.
Following this, Mifsud Bonnici asked how one might acquire a firearm and if any accidents had been reported from individuals in possession of one.
Camilleri revealed that, as per the Arms Act and its regulations, firearm ownership requires background checks, safety training, lawful use, and adherence to strict licensing procedures.
In regards to accidents, Camilleri explained that information regarding the matter is still being collected.
