39-Year-Old Maltese Man Arrested After Assaulting Police Officers At Sliema Police Station

A Maltese man was apprehended yesterday evening at the Sliema Police Station after assaulting three police officers, grievously injuring one.
The events transpired as police officers were confronting a relative of the man in relation to a reckless driving report. The 39-year-old entered the station and started shouting and causing a disturbance, even banging against perspex.
Officers on the scene attempted to de-escalate the situation, however, the man allegedly grew more aggressive, going as far as to push an officer against the wall. Once confronted, the man resisted arrest and as a result one officer suffered a broken hand, while two others sustained minor injuries.
The aggressor was put into custody shortly after and is currently awaiting trial.
