A 41-year-old Portuguese man has died after finding himself in difficulty while swimming at Blue Lagoon.

At around 1pm, the Police were informed that their assistance was required at the Comino beach, a very popular site with tourists.

After receiving first aid from the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps, the man was taken to the Gozo General Hospital. He was sadly pronounced dead some moments later.

A magisterial inquiry has been appointed, and a police investigation is still ongoing.
