Over the weekend, a man and a woman both aged 47 were arrested after they were spotted allegedly tampering with a parked car in Żebbuġ.

Police were informed about the ordeal around 3.15am between Saturday and Sunday, after two suspicious individuals were spotted lurking around cars in Triq l-Mdina, Żebbuġ.

Police took immediate action, and upon arriving at the scene, they found two individuals who matched the description provided, near a car that was unlocked with a radio inside. 

The two individuals then attempted to flee the scene but were immediately apprehended. Upon searching them, various suspicious items were found, including a torch and gloves.

Police also discovered radios, earphones, and chargers among other things.

Further investigation revealed that these two individuals were allegedly involved in similar thefts at the end of April and the beginning of May.

They are currently being held in the Police lockup at the General Headquarters in Floriana and are expected to appear in court today at around 1pm in front of Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras.
