48 Kilometres In 10 Hours! Maltese Exploration Enthusiast Sets Massive Trek Record On 48th Birthday

Conrad Neil Gatt, an exploration enthusiast, digital creator, and former Liquorish 2020 contestant, has made history, setting a new record by completing Malta’s first 10-hour, 48km trek around 48 heritage sites to mark his 48th birthday!
This marathon walk, completed in an impressive timeframe, was officially registered with ‘The Malta Records.’ Throughout the trek, Gatt shared live updates and historical insights across various TV, radio, and news platforms.
Titled L-Istorja Tkompli (History Continues), the trek was broadcast live on Gatt’s Facebook page and covered by local media outlets. The initiative aimed to educate the public about Malta’s abandoned historical sites, raise awareness of their cultural significance, and generate funds for their preservation and regeneration.
Gatt and his team at CNG Trekventures have been dedicated to this cause for the past two years. Their efforts have already led to the successful preservation of a cistern, four to five shelters, and several historical artefacts. Additionally, they are currently working on restoring another 22 sites.
During the trek, Gatt provided valuable historical information, exclusive footage, and photos of each site, highlighting ongoing preservation efforts and advocating for their protection against vandalism and neglect. His vision includes concrete proposals for the future of these heritage locations, including the transformation of Fort Benghisa into a public camping site.
This inspiring initiative was a resounding success, bringing much-needed attention to Malta’s historical treasures.
Well done to Conrad Neil Gatt and his team for their dedication and hard work!
