55-Year-Old Man Accused Of Raping Partner’s Children
A 55-year old man has been charged with raping the children of his partner, who was undergoing cancer treatment at the time.
The Times of Malta has reported how the man, whose identity cannot be name to be protect the victims, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court, which was presided over by Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace, heard how the children’s mother and a relative came forward to accuse the man of engaging in sexual activity with their children.
The crimes are believed to have been committed over a number of years while the mother was receiving treatment for cancer.
Lawyer Franco Debono, who is representing the accused, ask for bail arguing that the man had cooperated with police and would not violate bail conditions.
The prosecution objected to the request, describing the case as one of the ugliest he had ever seen. also citing the accused’s criminal record.
The request was denied.
