57-Year-Old Qormi Man Sentenced To Probation After Admitting To Filming Up Woman’s Skirt
A 57-year-old man from Qormi was sentenced to a two-year probationary period by Malta’s courts after he admitted to filming up a woman’s skirt in Valletta.
Earlier today, George Valletta was sentenced to probation and instructed to undergo therapy after he admitted to filming up a woman’s skirt at the bus terminus in the capital city.
During a court proceeding, Police Inspector Daryl Borg provided details about the incident, which involved undercover police officers who were patrolling the Valletta bus terminus.
Upon noticing suspicious behaviour, they approached him for a closer look, only to discover a camera in his bag that was actively recording. Shockingly, the footage turned out to be capturing a female tourist without her consent.
The man was promptly arrested and taken into police custody.
In today’s court session, the defendant admitted his guilt to the charge of engaging in harassment through unwelcome behaviour which carries sexual implications.
Even after being granted time to reconsider, Valletta maintained his admission of guilt.
During discussions regarding the appropriate punishment, legal aid lawyer Victor Bugeja emphasised that this incident appeared to be a one-time occurrence.
Inspector Borg confirmed that only one such video had been discovered on Valletta’s phone, and no other reports implicating the defendant had been received.
Following a brief deliberation in chambers, the magistrate returned to the courtroom and sentenced Valletta to a two-year probation period.
Additionally, he was placed under a two-year treatment order aimed at addressing his behavioural issues.
