A Department For ‘The Enforcement of Environmental Protection’ Is Finally Being Set Up In Malta

Minister for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change Jose Herrera has announced that a Department overseeing the enforcement of environmental protection and public domain will be set up.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday, the Minister reiterated how his ministry has been directing resources towards environmental protection and that this new department would be working towards creating a stronger environmental enforcement system. 

The new department will be a part of Minister Herrera’s existing ministry.

Majjistral Park

The minister also said that the Majjistral Nature and History Park will be increased with a further seven hectares of land. 15,000 trees are planned to be planted in this area. 

He added that the Malta Environmental Agency, which will be set up next year, has announced a call for tenders.
