A Man Broke A Former Maltese Police Inspector’s Nose Over A Parking Space
A 33-year-old man from Santa Venera was accused in court of breaking the nose of a former police inspector during a fight over a parking space. The accused pleaded not guilty to causing grievous injuries, insulting and provoking a victim, and disrupting the public peace.
The man’s lawyer argued that his client had a clean conduct, and had cooperated with police during the investigation. He said his client hadn’t used any weapons, and that he had voluntarily gone to the police station to be questioned by police.
He asked for bail for the accused, however the prosecution rejected this request, saying that the accused lives just metres away from where the victim works and it would be too risky.
However, the courts decided to release the man with a deposit of €1,000 as well as a personal guarantee of €10,000. It was also ordered that the victim be given protection.
