A New Era For Young Athletes: The Mediterranean Sports College Has Been Officially Inaugurated
The brand new college designated for aspiring, young student athletes has just been inaugurated.
The Mediterranean Sports College first opened its doors on 30th September as developments were still being made to its sport facilities, accommodating over 90 students from Year 7 up to Year 13.
The €11 million project was an ambitious investment by the Vassallo Group that saw the construction of multiple facilities, such as a “fitness centre, a canteen, 25-metre swimming pool and a unique Performance Science Center, the first of its kind in the country,” as expressed by College CEO, Charlo Bonnici, in discussion with TVM.
The college also includes living quarters for both national and international students and athletes alike, with up to 100 beds to provide respite amidst tiresome training.
The official inauguration ceremony, presided by President Myriam Spiteri Debono, saw the attendance of Minister of Education and Sport, Clifton Grima as well as Father Jimmy Bartolo, the Rector of St Aloysius College which forms part of the sports college itself.
