After Puppies Dumped Into Landfill And Mother Left Chained, MSPCA Is Calling For Immediate Enforcement

After four puppies were found by Wasteserv dumped in a landfill, their mother, along with two other dogs, was located chained up and left outside.
Located thanks to the efforts of the MSPCA, the organisation is now calling upon the Veterinary Regulation Department to take action and ensure immediate enforcement.
“We managed to locate the mother of the puppies after the four abandoned puppies ended up in the care of MSCPA,” a member of the organisation told Lovin Malta.
“Not only were the live puppies dumped in a landfill, but the owner was also chaining his dogs, selling puppies on Maltapark and contributing to the saga of irresponsible breeding, and disregarding their freedom,” she explained.
After they located the mother, the MSPCA filed a police report and pushed for the confiscation of the remaining dogs. However, a month after the confiscation, no action has been taken against the owner.
“This is a case where we found who the owner is, and now the owner needs to be fined and charged in court – nothing is being done,” she stressed.
“This is the source of our main problem in Malta and why we have so many dogs that are being abandoned in Malta, dumped in the streets, and dumped in shelters – and nobody is coping.”
They continued by stressing that the Veterinary Department (VRD) needs to push to ensure consequences for these acts.
“VRD, act now! We are dealing with serious offenses and we are demanding immediate enforcement,” it said on social media.
“We are not getting to the source of the issue, and it’s high time that we nip it in the bud.”
All the dogs are now under the care of the MSPCA, including four puppies, and two adult dogs found chained, including the mother, which is a pitbull, and a fox terrier.
Lovin Malta has also reached out to Malta’s police for an update on the case.
