A group of migrants aboard a ship operated by the search and rescue NGO Open Arms have been out at sea for six days between Malta and Lampedusa, as European ports are unwilling to accept them in.

The ship, which has a total of 123 migrants including 32 women and four children, has been stranded out at sea since 2nd August.

The Italian government refused to allow the ship to enter its territorial waters and threatened a “fine of €50,000 and the seizure of the Open Arms ship.”

Taking to Twitter, the NGO has said that Europe is taking a holiday as they are ignoring their calls for a secure port.
