The largest roadworks project currently underway in Malta will be going through some temporary fixes as it enters its next phase. Lanes and traffic lights will be shifted as the project moves to the construction of flyovers that will link main arterial roads.

If you, like us, get slightly anxious passing through Marsa Junction these days, fret not as Infrastructure Malta have issued guidelines to ease the stress.

Northbound (starting from Corradino and Santa Lucia towards Marsa)

For those travelling from the Santa Lucija area (Vjal Santa Lucija) towards the junction, temporary traffic lights are being set up next to the entrance of Addolorata Cemetery. These will replace the current lights that are at the junction further down the road.

Drivers heading from Corradino and Santa Lucia areas towards Qormi through Triq il-Gvern Lokali (Government Printing Press) and Triq il-Marsa (by the Turkish Cemetery) will be detoured through the parking area of the Addolorata Cemetery.

Southbound (Marsa to Paola, Santa Lucija, Gudja, Luqa, Malta International Airport)

For those travelling from Marsa towards Corradino, the southbound lanes on Triq Aldo Moro next to the old Malta Shipbuilding site will be narrowed from four to two, leading only to Vjal Sir Paul Boffa.

Two new lanes, opening up to four lanes, will be introduced to connect the southbound part of Triq Aldo Moro to Vjal Santa Lucija, Trqid Garibaldi (towards Gudja, Airport and Luqa) and Triq il-Gvern Lokali.

Two new lanes will also connect the parking area of Addolorata Cemetery to Vjal Santa Lucia with Triq il-Gvern Lokali and Triq Garibaldi.

The works will be occurring later this week.
